Common LowCountry Reptiles Reptiles have scales, are cold blooded, and lay eggs. Have you found a reptile? The following key will help to identify the most common reptiles of southeastern South Carolina. If a species does not fit into these categories, please visit the herpetology page of the Savannah River Ecology Lab for more information and rare species. 1. Is it a turtle? Click here. 2. Is it a snake? Glass lizards have no legs but are not snakes. Snakes have no legs, no ears, or eyelids. If it is a snake, click here. 3.
