LCI Research One of the goals of the LowCountry Institute is to preserve local biodiversity. To do this requires knowledge of the habitat requirements of species that are of special concern or that are good indicators of habitat quality. For example, hermit thrushes are a good representative of a bird that spends the winter months in the South Carolina Lowcountry while painted buntings are a species of special concern. The LowCountry Institute networks and partners with university researchers interested in Lowcountry ecology. For more information, contact us at 843-987-7008. |
